RESEARCH INTEREST/CLINICAL EXPERTISE

Research Interest

  • Auditory Processing Assessment and Treatment’
    • This is a specialty clinic that is offered by the University of Oklahoma that gives students a multiple disciplinary experience. Information obtained in the assessment from the audiology and speech-language pathology sections is combined with information from the schools to help with development of a comprehensive plan for the individuals who are referred for testing.
  • Physiological Assessment of the Auditory System
    • Neuro-maturation of the auditory system can be measured using the physiological assessment tools of the auditory brainstem response (ABR), middle latency response (MLR), and late cortical response (P300). These assessment tools link very closely to the central auditory processing capabilities of children or adults.

Clinical Expertise

  • Diagnostic Assessment: adults and pediatrics for auditory or vestibular systems
  • Adult Auditory Rehabilitation: amplification, communication strategies, auditory training, and speech reading
  • Pediatric Auditory Habilitation: amplification, auditory verbal techniques, and total communication techniques
  • Central Auditory Processing Diagnosis and Treatment: behavioral and physiological measures with treatment
  • Physiological Measures: Auditory Brainstem Response, Middle Latency Response and Cortical Evoked Response assessment
