Julia Garossino volunteered her time to man a nutrition booth at a health fair in Noble. The health fair that was held in Noble, OK on Thursday, October 30 was geared towards local 4th and 5th graders. It consisted of several booths representing businesses and organizations from around the Oklahoma city area. Presenters included the Red Cross, a home health company, a local gym, firefighters who participated in national competitions, and a nutrition booth. The nutrition booth advertised healthy snacks by providing food for the attendees. It also included several handouts describing various ways to incorporate healthy practices in ones lifestyle. Decorations and visual aids were used to draw in the crowd. These were generously donated by Sandy Richardson, a Nutritional Sciences faculty member at the OUHSC College of Allied Health. The health fair was very well put together, and I hope that it will continue to thrive in following years in order to convey the message of health to the children of Noble. |
