An Introduction to Soft Tissue Manual Therapy

This course will teach the various types of soft tissue manual therapy techniques and how each fits with general practice. Explanations of current evidence for soft tissue manual therapy as a treatment strategy and indications for soft tissue manual therapy will be presented. Participants will practice soft-tissue techniques that include muscle relaxation through bow-stringing and myofascial release (general and direct techniques) and muscle lengthening through release of facial lines via Ward-Greenman and Norwegian techniques. Lab clothes required. Class size is limited due to lab component.

Directions:  This course, in collaboration with Saint Francis Hospital, will only be held in the Education Center of Saint Francis. Participants should park in the employee parking garage, Level 6 or 6 1/2, which is located on the east side of the hospital. This course will not be broadcast.
