SERVICE


Office of Special Education Programs, U.S. Department of Education, Preparation of Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists to Provide Early Intervention and Related Services, 2007-2011, $784,729. Fieldwork coordinators; The purpose of the project is to increase the number of occupational therapy and physical therapy graduates who are highly qualified, through evidenced based practice and research, to provide service in the area of early intervention and related services for children with disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA).

Oklahoma State Department of Health: SoonerStart Early Intervention contract to provide consultation, supervision, and primary service provision for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Part C program for a total of $75,919 (yearly).

Oklahoma Department of Human Services, TIC-TOC: Training Inclusive Child Care: Terrific Opportunities for Children. Dr. Jeffries is the project director for the training grant focusing on childcare providers. The training provides participants with information related to caring for children with disabilities. The intent is to increase the number of children with disabilities participating in community-based childcare settings.


RESEARCH INTEREST/CLINICAL EXPERTISE


Research Interest

  • Research interests include pediatrics physical therapy, early intervention program services, teaming in early intervention programs, services in natural environments, family centered care, movement and play skills in young children with cerebral palsy.

Clinical Expertise

  • Clinical expertise includes pediatric physical therapy, early intervention programming, services in natural environments, sensory processing, lower extremity splinting and serial casting, evaluation and intervention, and training for pediatric rehabilitation providers.
