Doctor of Philosophy Program
The Doctor of Philosophy degree program in Allied Health Sciences is an interdisciplinary program that promotes expansion of knowledge across disciplines and informed collaboration among disciplines. The program requires 90 credits beyond the bachelor's degree and up to 44 credits in approved master's degree courses may be applied. Requirements include interdisciplinary core courses, individualized program courses, statistics and research courses, and a doctoral dissertation. Tolbert Center faculty teach individualized program courses and supervise dissertation research in the area of pediatrics and developmental disabilities. Faculty have a variety of research activities in which students participate and students also have opportunities to participate in academic and clinical teaching, the Oklahoma Assistive Technology Center, other model service delivery activities, grant writing, and journal editing. Tuition, stipends, and other supports for qualified physical therapists are provided by a grant from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (grant #6T18MC00008).
